Day 354 – December 19, 2012

Day 354

My husband bought me two new vintage cameras while he was on TDY to New Mexico recently.  Last night I had a dream I was taking pictures with this one.

In other news, we are leaving tomorrow on our cross-country trek to visit almost all our family members for Christmas and New Years.  I won’t be able to post the rest of the years photos until after we get back on January 6th.  So I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  To all my fellow 366’ers – can you believe it!?  We’ll be done so soon!  It’s been a wonderful adventure.  I’ll be putting my last 12 images of this project up when we get back.  I can’t wait to see the end of all of your projects as well.  And while I might be finished with my everyday project shortly, I’ll be working in January on this project’s book, which I’m planning on having available by the end of January 2013.  See you all next year ;)

Etsy Shop

I know this isn’t a normal post for me, but for many of you that have been following my 366 project for a while now, or have seen my other blog – From The Attic – you know my Nana has some amazing items from her travels around the world.  I’ve photographed a good deal of them for this project, and her actual travel photographs are in my From The Attic Blog.

She’s been clearing out box after box and my sisters and I got to have what we wanted, but there is still so much left over.  We told her she should sell her precious items so she would have some extra money; then she asked if we would do it for her. :)

So that’s what my sister and I are doing.  I know there are a lot of artists and travelers who collect cool things, that follow this blog so I figured I’d share the link to our Etsy shop.  Maybe you’ll see something you like.

Day 307 – November 2, 2012

Day 264 – September 20, 2012

My Nana still had her colored pencils from her one semester in art school in the early 1940’s.  She decided to go to secretarial school instead so she’d be able to get a job.  She said she wished she’d stayed in art school though.  She never used these again.

From The Attic

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my From The Attic blog.  But I found some time to do it today.  It was a really cool photo too.  You should check it out!

Day 246 – September 2, 2012

I love my vintage cameras.  I should do a whole series with them.

Day 238 – August 25, 2012

Day 208 – July 26, 2012

I love the idea of creating scenes in front of the camera.  Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Stills is one of my favorite bodies of work. Check it out if you haven’t already.

From The Attic Blog

I wanted to let everyone know that I’ve started another blog, and I think you should check it out!  From The Attic is dedicated to my Nana’s photography between the 1940’s to 1960’s.  She’s given me all her slides and negatives and I’ve slowly been scanning them in and cleaning them up. Her work has turned into a wonderful collaboration between her and I spanning six decades.  I’m privileged to be able to present her never before seen work to the world.
