Day 348 – December 13, 2012

Today is December 13th, which means that today marks the 12th, and final, photograph of the saguaro cactus that I’ve been photographing once a month during this project.  It has been wonderful to see it grow from just a seed.  My husband and I hope to see it grow so big it can’t fit in the house any more.

Day 318 – November 13, 2012

Time for the monthly baby cactus photo.  It’s definitely been growing.  It’s needles are taking over; it’s hard to see it’s body.

Even though I wasn’t physically present to take my monthly baby cactus picture, I did have my amazing husband take a picture of it for me and send it to my phone.  So it’s a little different perspective than the other photos, but no big deal.  The one we’ve all been watching grow is in the center of the little pot.

Day 257 – September 13, 2012

Baby cactus time!  It’s the 13th of the month, time for my monthly picture of this little saguaro cactus.  Although in this month’s shot I decided to include more of its neighbors as well.   The needles are still growing, and if you look really carefully you can see the dust on it, which means it has been here around here for quite some time.

Day 226 – August 13, 2012

August 13, 2012.  The 13th of the month means baby cactus picture time.  I’m not sure how much different it looks from the last month.  In person it’s easy to feel that the needles are stronger and that it has gotten closer to the baby cactus next to it.  Saguaros grow super slowly, but I figured its first year would have the most changes.  And so far it has been a wonderful little journey.  Here are the previous month’s images:

Day 195 – July 13, 2012

 

It’s the 13th, which means it’s baby cactus picture time. 

The green body of the cactus is no bigger than a pencil eraser.  The needles make it a little larger.  It has turned a darker green and has more texture on its surface.  It is also rounding out nicely.  And because I’m naturally curious, you guys to get learn that yes, the needles are sharp.

This little baby is 75 plus years from looking like this.

Day 165 – June 13, 2012

It’s the 13th of the month, which means it’s time for the monthly baby cactus picture.  It’s beginning to round out.  It turns greener every month along with the needles getting longer every month.  To see the previous months baby cactus pictures see the days below:

Day 133 – May 12, 2012

I have to shoot my monthly baby cactus picture one day early this month, the reason is below.  As you can see, it’s greener than last month.  It was pink when it sprouted, and the last two months it’s been changing to green.  To see the other monthly cacti pictures head to:

The reason for shooting one day early?  I leave for vacation tomorrow.  I will be on a cruise to Bermuda, Boston, Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island.  I won’t be back until May 29th.  My whole family is going to celebrate the many things happening this year in our family: my Grandma’s 70th, my parent’s 25th anniversary, me and my husband’s 5th anniversary, my younger sister graduating with her Master’s Degree, my other sister turning 21, just all around a lot of celebrations.  So for the next 17 days I will be without my computer and editing software.  And for a few days, while I’m in Bermuda, I won’t have any contact with the world.  So I apologize now; you can bet anything I’ll be shooting everyday, so no worries there.  I just won’t be able to properly upload my daily images until after the 29th.  So you’ll get a lot of updates after the 29th from this blog :)  I can’t wait to see what types of pictures I can take on this vacation.  I’ll probably come back with a thousand pictures :)
