New Project – 13 Stargazing Events in 2013

My husband has come up with a new project for us this year.  As some of you may remember from following my 366 Project last year, my husband is obsessed with the night sky.  He found this list on Facebook and decided to shoot all the events:

13 Events

So we started this project on January 21, with The Jupiter/Moon Conjunction.  We’re collaborating, my husband is taking the pictures and I’m doing all the ‘behind the scenes’ work.

Day 304 – October 30, 2012

The moon is full and bright and this was an accidental shot.  But I ended up liking it.  I love when I fall in love with an accidental shot.

Day 263 – September 19, 2012

Sunset juggling / Oops.  I dropped one.

Day 262 – September 18, 2012

The moon is just a sliver tonight.

Day 187 – July 5, 2012

Last night while we were watching the fireworks, I realized that on the opposite side of the sky there was a full moon.  So I decided that tonight I would try to get a nice shot of the full moon.  There were even clouds left over from yesterday’s monsoon.  So with the help of my astrophotographer husband, we took this 1.3 second long exposure.

Day 156 – June 4, 2012

I wanted to wait until tonight to take my daily picture, because the moon was full, and I wanted to see what types of pictures I could get with a full moon.  Instead of going with the generic night time moon picture, I wanted to try something different; so I took a 20 second exposure while slowly zooming out during the exposure.  It turned out pretty cool.  And the sky was even a nice blue tonight.

Day 89 – March 29, 2012

I had a a lot of fun camping and shooting last night.  Some clouds rolled in and covered up a lot of the stars.  But the moon and a few bright stars still shined through the clouds to be in my photographs.  This was my favorite picture from the night.
