My Nana still had her colored pencils from her one semester in art school in the early 1940’s. She decided to go to secretarial school instead so she’d be able to get a job. She said she wished she’d stayed in art school though. She never used these again.

I love the story that goes with the image — made me feel a little bit sad for her. How many of us have done that same thing . . . {hand up}
I think it’s sad too. I was moving her out of her house when I found these, and for 3 weeks she was telling me stories like this. How she wished she’d stayed in art school, or wished she’d marry Charlie instead of Tom. But she did have a lot of stuff she was glad she did, so at least it evened out.
I wonder why we live our lives full of regret instead of embracing where life has brought us to — thanks for your post!
I think because hindsight is 20/20.
Ah, the old, “what might have been” is a killer, isn’t it? But then again, who knows what wonderful things that might have been missed if we’d gone down another road?
Lovely photo – but sad knowing the story.
Oh yes, it’s a killer alright. I try not to live my life like that, mainly because just what you said. If we had taken another path we would have missed all we learned and the people we know.
Amazing shot. And I just love the story that goes with it. Very beautiful and touching. :-)
Thank you. I was trying to figure out a way to tell the story through an image. I mean I have these 72 year old colored pencils just sitting in my art supplies that even I won’t use.
