Day 108 – April 17, 2012

I’m being picky about this image, and I can’t get it exactly how I feel it should be, so I might need to refine this idea, but this was as close as I could get to another one of those random ideas from my photo journal.  I’m starting to run out of ideas in there, I’ve been creating a lot of them for this project.

[edit: which one is better? I’ve been messing around with it a little bit today.]

  1. I like this a lot. Very creative. As for running out of ideas – how about doing some theme-based weeks every now and then. I have a new theme every week that helps me a lot. Or make sure to write it down or bbokmark whenever you see a great shot from another blogger. I find a lot of inspiration out there. :)

    • Thank you Inga! At the start of this project I did print out a ‘365 Day Project Helper’ it gave 365 ideas. I haven’t had to use it yet. But I do have it as backup! And inspiration is everywhere! :)

  2. This is a lovely concept shot. Super in black and white. You might enjoy this blog by a fellow 365-er. In fact, she is on her third 365 in a row. http://kammkphotography.wordpress.com/

  3. I love this idea… maybe to refine it a little, edit the lower layer into transparency 40 or 50% orso… in that case the hands with the letters will get more attention… just an idea ;)

    • Yeah, I tried doing that yesterday and it didn’t look right, so I was thinking about trying it again today and seeing if I could do it better. I’ll let you know if it turns out!

      • Can’t wait to see it :D

        • Well I got the background lighter. What do you think? I think it’s better. Yesterday I had tried all sorts of stuff to get it the way I liked it, including fading the background, but it just wasn’t working for me. So today, I took the background all the way to 25% opacity and that’s where it’s at now, which seems to work better. I also figured out that the books in the background are bothering me. I grabbed 2 stacks off my bookshelf, and since they were alphabetical I grabbed the entire Anne of Green Gables series and 3 Harry Potter books and a few other loose ones. I need more variety. Since a page from To Kill A Mockingbird is on my hands, I think I should have that one right underneath my hands. I’m getting really picky. haha.

          • I think it is actually better, maybe higher the contrast of the hands still a little bit, or let them be colored, may be even better… I don’t know Victoria, can’t ‘play’ with this image myself haha… just thinking along with you… I still think it is a fantastic idea! :D

          • Thanks! And thanks for thinking out loud with me…haha. I pumped the contrast up to 80 already. So I would probably need to re-shoot a book with thicker words. But it is coming along. One day I’ll get it perfect enough for my picky self. But it’s good enough for now.

  4. VERY nice!! This should be on posters in libraries! :)

  5. Wow! These are both great. I agree with Suzanne. Libraries! Or bookstores. Thanks for following my blog. We’re all here to inspire each other. Be well and stay blessed.
